I am executor of my dad’s will. Property to be divided equally between 3. All he had was furniture. Estate auction and divide the money was my plan. Now, my sister wants one piece of furniture. Do I get that one piece appraised, sell the rest? What if the rest of the furniture sells for less than that one piece appraised for?

Just a thought here. What you could do is go and put it all up for auction. Make it where the person that wishes to have the one piece of furniture be the one allowed to bid on that particular piece and no other family member or those receiving the inheritance. What this person pays for the item go into the grand total which is to be split between all individuals involved — including the one that bid on the item. The person that got the piece of furniture is still allowed their 1/3 of the estate — it’s as if that person was any other bidder. The person that receives that furniture does get a third of the money, but 2/3 of what they paid for the Furniture goes to the inheritors.

Hi experts – I am trying to sell my condo after a divorce so alot of the furniture has already been moved out. Unfortunately the condo looked 10x better with our Furniture in it so I’m trying to figure out a way to get nice furniture back in the place temporarily, just for the showings until it sells. I feel like I have heard of some kind of service like this before, however I can’t seem to find it on the web. Does anyone know of anything like this or have any other suggestions?

I have an elderly Jack Russell dog who sheds terribly. I am in the market for some new furniture and I would like to know what Furniture would stand up to teenagers and an elderly dog whose habits I do not intend to break. Also, I would like to not break the bank on price and I do not want a sleeper sofa. I am not opposed to leather.

leather or something similar. if you have a fabric that’s not smooth, the dog hair can get caught in it and be extremely hard to remove.

Use a steam iron (don’t touch the iron to the rug, it may melt, just get the steam in there) or a mister/ sprayer.

Vacuum to pull the fibers back upright.

Use the edge of a kitchen spoon to rub the fibers back and forth – switching directions as you go.

Mist, Rub, Vacuum, Mist, Vacuum, Rub — any order.

What is the best Furniture fabric and color for pet hair?

I have an Australian shepherd and two cats. I want to get microfiber furniture (the cats are not declawed). I want to know is this the most durable fabric for my money? Also, what color should I pick so pet hair won’t really be too noticeable? I can’t really prevent the animals from getting on the couches because they sleep on it at night and during the day when I am at work. So:
Best fabric?
Best color?
Cleaning suggestions?

Also, I do not want to put a furniture cover over the couches. Thanks.

One good hint of advice—-Get a pet throw (couch blanket) for the areas they sleep on, it’ll save the furniture. Also a miracle brush to get fur off easily. The blanket can be washed as needed, and a second blanket may be needed to cover all the couch if the dog is up there too. I’d rather get fur on the blanket which is replaceable, than woven into the furniture cushions.

Best color? I’ll say gray. I’ve got a medium brown and things show up on it. Black or white would show fur like crazy. Plaid is ugly, but will disguise the fact some fur is on it.

A loose weave is the worst for cats, it encourages them to dig claws in. A tight weave like most ‘furry’ upholstery fabrics is pretty good.

I’m moving into a new apartment in a couple of weeks, and I’m going to go buy a bunch of new furniture. But I’m not too sure as to what color Furniture (sofa, tables, dinette, etc.) I should get. What will go good with an apartment with walls that are white, and carpet that is sort of a "dirty" white, but white nonetheless.

Right now I’m thinking the obvious black but what do you think?

Since white is a neautral color any color will go with it . That is why most rentals walls are painted white . Choose furniture that reflect your personnality. Do you like modern or country??? I recently moved all of my Furniture that had been in a climate-controlled storage unit for 1 year into my new apartment. My couch grew mold in the storage unit, so I threw it out. The rest of my furniture is primarily particleboard (bookcases, dressers, etc.) and some wood. What should I use to clean this furniture to make sure that there is no mold on it and that won’t destroy the furniture? Thank you!

bleach is about the only thing that kills mold
