What is retail merchandising and where can I find information for it?
This is for a competitive event, any help or information regarding retail merchandising, and its principles would be greatly appreciated.
Retail merchandising usually refers to the point of puchase (POP) activities manufacturers and retailers perform. For example, Pepsi may have some special display racks in front of Supermarkets’ cashiers. The goal of retail merchandising is to make the "final sales pitch" to the shoppers to switch to your brand or to buy more if they’re buying already. To achieve this, you need to consider a lot of factors like coordination and consistency with other advertising and promotion campaigns, your competitors’ price promotion period, Retailers’ promotional allowance, etc.
What are some popular retail stores that require a paper application?
I have applied to over 20 stores online and I do not seem to get anywhere. I’m unemployed straight of college and just want a simple retail job. I figure that maybe the trick to getting this job is to apply in person that way I can get the manager’s attention. What are some Retail stores that still accept paper applications or are exclusively paper applications only. Thanks in advance.
THERE are not too many left what you will have to do is start hitting the stores like in the mall or shopping plazas and ether get the apps.or get there web sights and get some e-mails directly to the managers of the stores
How to start up and manage a retail clothing store at mall?
I am going to start up a Retail clothing business. I’d like to open it at a mall but dont know the best way to find couple employees with retail clothing experiences to help with cashier and customer services. What are the average pay for retail employees full or part-time at the mall, and what are the benefits employee get? Also, what kind of software the stores are using at the mall to sell and keep stock inventories. I am new and have no idea how to do it right. Please advises. Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Kent
Hello Kent
In a mall setting, you will no doubt be required to follow a LOT of mall policies, specifically hours they set, days open, holiday hours and more. Also, be careful about signing any contracts/leases for more than one year at a time. You just don’t know how the store will do and you don’t want to be tied to a long term contract if something does not work out.
Once you hire employees you will be required to pay state unemployment taxes, federal unemployment taxes, submit reports and file tax payments monthly and or quarterly and annually. Contact your state government and see what they require for new Business startup.
Start small, don’t take out a huge loan, don’t run up your charge cards, do not put everything you own at risk for the sake of the business.
I have owned and operated numerous businesses from a women’s clothing store to a coffee shop/clothing store combined and I will tell you, it is a ton of work. Watch the books, watch the Finances, negotiate with everyone . There is so much, I wish you good luck. I recently sold my coffee shop, still sell some clothing online and am considering opening a gift shop this summer in a resort area in Wisconsin. Again, all the best to you.
Sincerely
Jeannie

small local stores will do this but if you apply online, stop in when they are not busy and ask to speak to a manager. Then tell them you applied and ask where you are in the hiring process.
Keep in mind – bring a resume and dress to be interviewed on the spot…just in case.
What’s the difference between retail and system builders copy?
If I buy system builders copy of windows vista to put on a comp that i’m selling to somebody..what is the difference between this and the retail version? Can i use the retail verson on more than one computer? Or can i uset hte system builders copy for multiple? Is it illegal to use the retail on computers you are going to sell?
Retail you can use over and over again and OEM you can only use once I think.

i had the same problem and it definitely is better to apply with a paper application because the management team already gets a feeling for you when you walk in. not many places really accept paper applications anymore but some that do are:
american eagle
forever 21
aeropostale
abercrombie & fitch , abercrombie kids
sketchers
the Food stores at the mall accept them too
thats all i really know off the top of my head, good luck with the job source
What retail stores are not in danger of closing in time of a recession?
I am trying to find a loss prevention position at a Retail store, do you know which ones will not close?
Walmart, Sam’s Club, what else?
Costco, Target, Macy’s; any of the very large stores that sell a product people need or are large & established enough to weather the storm.
What retail store do you work in that you would suggest for others seeking seasonal work?
I am considering getting a seasonal job (Oct. to Dec.) and want to hind a Retail store that people have had a good experience with, and preferrable pays more than minimum wage. Another plus would be a place I could get a discount for Christmas shopping myself. What are your suggestions?
Target. I loved working there during the same time frame so much that I stuck around until March of the following year. It was fun, the time went by quick and I got 1st dibs on all the mark downs.

Best of luck!
What retail stocks are doing good in the market?
I need to pick a retail market for school and I would like to know if there are any particular stocks that I should know about to pick. I would like a stock that is doing good.
Nordstrom does OK since it’s clientele tend to be recession proof,
Amazon.com will likely continue to perform well as the economy improves and Wal-Mart will trudge along,,
True Religion and Abercrombie & Fitch will likely to do better when the young crowd start buying stuff again,
Other than getting lucky Retail stocks are pretty much a pick-em’ ,,,
