Can ubuntu linux work on any Computer and can it work on any Computer hardware?

Posted by on September 5, 2010

Whith newer Computer Hardware and premade PC’s coming out every so often these days can ubuntu linux work. or do you need spasifik computer or hardware to run it. TY

Ubuntu can be run on virtually all computers still in service. However, the system will need to meet Ubuntu’s system requirements, which are pretty low. Not all hardware works with Linux, but most does. It is not limited to any specific type or model of computer.

Ubuntu will be able to run on just about any PC around. On the rare occasion though, if it doesn’t there is a free piece of software called Virtual Box which is a virtualization utility which will allow you to run Ubuntu inside of a host operating system such as Windows.

I am not certain about running Ubuntu on Apple hardware though.

Ubuntu and its variants (Kubuntu, Xubuntu) run on most hardware. Because it’s a bootable live disc, it’s easy to test any particular hardware with it.

I actually prefer Linux Mint–while based on Ubuntu and its variants, it also includes a lot of the stuff you would have to download separately with Ubuntu, like Java, Flash, and audio/video support.

You download one or more .ISO image files and burn them to a CD or DVD as appropriate–CDs for Ubuntu and (mostly) DVDs for Mint

Ubuntu can run with almost any hardware and to tell you the truth it has more hardware support than windows. Linux supports a lot of new and old hardware. Windows usually ditches old hardware Linux doesn’t do this. I do know that with ati graphics cards you wont be able to do many linux games with it because ati wont make drivers that work good with linux anymore but its still usable just not for gaming. If you have a nvidia card with ubuntu you can do anything you can play every game available for linux.

You download the ISO. image of Ubuntu 10.04 or Linux Mint 9 then you need to create a Bootable LiveCD for installation

Ubuntu 10.04 and Linux Mint 9 can also be run direct from the LiveCD from Booting up without touching your Hard Drive
